1967 CORVETTE SNOW FIND RESTORATION
Written By Steve Childs.
For years now after owning Ron Senick’s beautiful 67 coupe, I have always regretted selling that car. I guess everyone at sometime has made a decision to do something for different reasons at the time and wished it never happened later. Well that was then, and this is now. It seems when you have almost given up looking for something it just drops into your lap.
I was looking for a barn find, and little did I know that there was a snow find in Ontario. Well who better to discover this hidden treasure than Daryl Senick.
It must just run in the family, I swear that he has a corvette finding
meter of some sort that Ron left him. Anyway the story gets better,
this car is a 67 corvette roadster. It was just timing, as the owner had taken the car apart for restoration , and after getting into the project over many months, decided that he was in over his head and couldn’t compete the car. Well as things would have it, Daryl has significant knowledge and experience at corvette restoration. Knowing that a 67 mid year had been on my mind for several years, Daryl asked me if I was interested in restoring this find. Well let me think about this I said ( about 2 seconds later ) the answer was a definite yes. Not only was I getting an opportunity to get a 67 mid year back into my garage, I’ll have a chance to restore the car with one of the best guys around and a friend to boot.
Well that was a year ago when we picked up the car, and everything was
kind of there but as I mentioned taken apart for restoration. However
the frame had been left outside for space reasons, and unfortunately we
had our first bad snow storm of the year, hence the title of the car
SNOW FIND. Daryl actually used a lighter to melt the snow off of the
serial numbers on the diff and steering box to verify the chassis.

First we got into the restoration of the rolling chassis and drive train to get ready for Beach Cruise at Wasaga Beach, Aug. 2009. The NCRS guys were there to judge the chassis and they liked what they saw. We are now into winter and the body is coming along nicely. Wasaga Beach Cruise is coming up Aug. 2010 and the car with finished body will be in the restorer zone this year to show our progress over the winter months. Into next fall the interior and other items will be finished off for launch Spring 2011. It will be about two years to totally complete the car slowly and methodically, but it’s really just around the corner and I can’t wait. I’ll keep you posted in the Touch Of Thunder on our progress.
